How to Use Novazepra®
Step 1 – Prepare
Before injection:
- Pull the pen cap straight off and inspect the pen and label.
- Always use a new pen needle for each injection.
- Wipe the red inner seal using a swab.
- Remove the protective paper from the outer needle cap.
- Press the capped needle vertically onto the pen and turn until secure.
- Remove the outer needle cap and keep it for later use.
- Remove the inner needle cap and dispose of it safely.
Step 2 – Priming the Pen
Before the first injection using a new needle:
- Slowly turn the injection button until the priming position appears.
- Hold the pen with the needle pointing upward.
- Tap the cartridge holder gently to collect air bubbles.
- Press and hold the injection button to release a small amount of medicine into the air.
- Continue holding for 5 seconds.
- If medicine does not appear, repeat this process up to two additional times.
- Replace the needle and repeat once if necessary.
Step 3 – Injecting
Choose an injection site:
Suitable injection areas include:
- Abdomen
- Front of the thighs
- Back of the upper arm (if administered by another person)
- Rotate injection sites weekly.
Administer the Dose
- Turn the injection button until the prescribed dose appears.
- Insert the needle into the skin.
- Press the injection button fully.
- Continue holding the button for 5 seconds.
- Confirm the dose window returns to zero before removing the needle.
After Injection
- Replace the outer needle cap carefully.
- Unscrew the needle and dispose of it safely in a puncture-resistant sharps container.
- Replace the pen cap.
- Never store the pen with the needle attached.
